159 varieties of “Umeshu” (plum wine) from breweries all around Japan gather at Hakata Station! Umeshu, a beverage that can also be made at home, is a familiar presence. However, this event showcases a diverse collection of umeshu produced by sake manufacturers from across the country. The umeshu are categorized based on the type of alcohol they are infused with, including white liquor, authentic shochu, sake, brandy, as well as citrus-based umeshu like yuzu or lemon, and cloudy umeshu. Visitors can sample these using a special coin included in the admission fee called “Ume-sen” (1 cup 16ml). Over 160 varieties of umeshu are also available for purchase by the bottle.
