For the first time in two years, the Hakataza Theater will present a Grand Kabuki performance in June. The matinee performance will be “Matsu no Hagoromo(松廼羽衣),” a dance adaptation of a Noh play, and “The Love Affair of Yosaburo and Otomi(与話情浮名横櫛),” starring Onoe Kikunosuke. The evening performance will be “Keisei Hangonkou(傾城反魂香),” a popular play based on a period joruri play written by Chikamatsu Monzaemon, and “The Zen Substitute(身替座禅),” a humorous dance play based on a major kyogen play. If there are empty seats left 20 minutes before the start of the performance on the day of the performance, you can take advantage of the special student price, which allows you to see the play at half price with your student ID.
