The Houman-gu Kamado Shrine, seated majestically on Mount Homan, is a symbol of Dazaifu and revered as a sacred peak from ancient times. Esteemed as a deity of matchmaking, this shrine is also famous as a cherry blossom landmark, celebrated annually with a Sakura Festival. The shrine’s precincts come alive with the vibrancy of 200 cherry trees, alongside an array of food trucks and a lineup of stage events, including concerts, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Commencing on March 22nd, the evening illumination of cherry blossoms begins, inviting visitors to indulge in the breathtaking beauty of the illuminated nocturnal sakura.
