Keiseki Shrine inside Kashii Shrine has a longstanding custom of worshipping chickens, which continues until the present day at this autumn festival. Parents come to pray and give thanks for their children’s growth and health, especially for children who cry at night, and children offer sweets and snacks to the enshrined deity. The shrine’s symbol is (unsurprisingly!) an egg – try the egg-themed food at the festival stalls or join the egg-related parent-child workshops and events. Live performances too. Visit with your family and don’t miss the chance to experience a local custom at this festival.
