This summer night artistic exhibition takes place at the Yanagawa Domain lord’s residence, Ohana, which boasts a history of approximately 300 years. The event features a collaboration between “Itou Gonjirou Shouten,” a traditional craft shop that has been making Yame lanterns for over 200 years, and seven artists primarily active in Fukuoka. Together, they present an eerie yet charming “Kowakawa” theme, creating a mysterious summer night atmosphere. In addition to displaying lanterns depicting yokai (supernatural creatures), the event also showcases the “Geishu Budayuu Monogatari Emaki,” a scroll of yokai tales passed down in the Tachibana family, which inspired the “Kikai Yako” event.
