Koishiwara Spring Pottery Festival
~

The Koishiwara Pottery Fair takes place in Koishiwara, a pottery village with around 350 years of history. Held across an area dotted with approximately 50 kilns, the event reflects two ceramic traditions: Koishiwara ware, known for everyday tableware, and Takatori ware, which developed as tea ceramics.
During the fair, each kiln presents new works, and a wide range of pieces—from practical daily-use vessels to one-of-a-kind items—are available at special prices. Visiting the kilns and galleries also offers a chance to experience the village landscape, with its terraced rice fields and thatched-roof houses. A free shuttle bus runs from JR Hikosan Station to Gallery Koishiwara during the event.
