Kokura Castle Takeakari

On autumn evenings, the area around Kokura Castle is illuminated by several thousand bamboo lanterns. The bamboo is cut and prepared by local volunteers as part of efforts to manage neglected bamboo forests. The result is a softly lit, community-led event that transforms the castle grounds and surrounding streets after dark.
This year, the entrance gate moves to the Toranomon side, while the paid viewing area has also been expanded. Visitors can walk among the bamboo lights from Kokura Castle Keep Plaza along the History Road and toward the Uomachi area.
Admission to Kokura Castle and Kokura Castle Garden on the same day is included with the event ticket.
