The Fukuoka Asian Art Museum displays a collection of art by Leiji Matsumoto, the well-known creator of several space-themed anime and manga series including the award-winning “Galaxy Express 999”. Matsumoto was born in 1938, in Kurume, Fukuoka and grew up in Kitakyushu. He was awarded the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters in France last year. The collection on display in Fukuoka from April 26~May 13 features around 200 pieces of his work including original sketches. On April 28, Leiji Matsumoto will attend the exhibition venue for a special talk show and autograph session.
