An exhibition by Latvian-born, Fukuoka-based ink artist Linda Konone. Having studied academic and audiovisual art in Latvia, France, and Japan, she now researches the history of Japanese ink painting and creates works primarily using sumi ink. Around 30 paintings in sumi, Japanese watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media will be shown, alongside experimental pieces exploring traditional techniques such as suminagashi (ink marbling) and sumi-e. A suminagashi workshop will be held on Oct. 26 from 15:00 to 16:00. Konone’s artist statement: “Art is the shadow of life.”
