Hakata Jyoumonsan Harvest Festival

START: Dec 1, 2013 END: Dec 1, 2013

Pick up local produce at five spots around Fukuoka City on Dec. 1! Run annually by JA Fukuoka, the Hakata Jyoumonsan market aims to promote environmental awareness and food safety regulations, while showcasing delicious fresh local produce including this year’s first crop of Amaou strawberries. Every year it attracts a large crowd of people especially in the Tenjin area. “Jyoumon” means high quality in Hakata dialect – and as such, the participating sellers promise to provide local buyers with the highest quality food products. On top of fresh vegetables, the market offers warm, homemade butajiru, sweet potato made from Nokonoshima, and even some tasty yakisoba available at the stands. Sweet tooths will enjoy the cakes with Hakata Amaou strawberries! Source: Nishinippon Shimbun, 11/28.
