Miyajidake Shrine, known for its beautiful stairway and path connecting the shrine to the sea, is also where you can see 100,000 Edo Japanese irises (100 species) in bloom. On May 31 (Fri.), a special ritual will take place in which Shinto priests make the first iris harvest and offer the flowers to the gods. To coincide with the iris festival, the shrine is offering a special goshuin (shrine seal hand-painted on a goshuincho or special book for collecting shrine seals) from May 17 (Fri.) to Jun. 16 (Sun.).
