This festival sees the replacement of the large shimenawa (sacred shrine rope) at Miyajidake Shrine. Visitors can participate and help to pull the rope down too. Head to the shamusho (an area where the omamori and omikuji are sold) on the day and let them know you want to participate. Be sure to write a wish for the year on a paper called kigansho by 10:00 so it can be included within the straw of the shimenawa as an offer to the gods. Free mochimaki (mochi thrown to the crowd) and miso soup too.
