Join the Munakata Tanabata Festival on the island of Oshima, the birthplace of the Tanabata legend! The festival will be held at the Nakatsu Shrine inside Munakata Taisha where you can see Amanogawa River (symbolizing “Milky Way” in Japanese mythology) flowing between the Shokujo and Kengyu Shrines. Looking for love? Write your wish on a strip of paper called tanzaku and tie it to a bamboo tree. Watch taiko drum, song and dance performances including a special Tanabata song performance at Oshima Park, and stay until night to see the traditional Tanabata Shinto ritual. There will be a ferry from Oshima Port to Konominato Port at 21:30.
