Join the Munakata Tanabata Festival on the island of Oshima, the birthplace of the Tanabata legend! The festival will be held at the Nakatsugu Shrine inside Munakata Taisha where you can see Amanogawa River (symbolizing “Milky Way” in Japanese mythology) flowing between the Shokujo and Kengyu Shrines. Watch taiko drum, song and dance performances including a special Tanabata song performance at Oshima Park, and stay until night to see the traditional Tanabata shinto ritual.
