Nagasaki Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival

Approximately 1,000 lanterns will light up Nagasaki’s Chinatown area to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of China’s biggest annual events. This is also the time when the otsukimi (moon viewing) festival takes place in Japan. Witness dragons moving through the streets of Japan’s oldest Chinatown during the parade! Wear traditional Chinese-style clothing to receive a free mooncake. And make sure to sample shark fin soup, which will be available for as little as ¥2,000 during the event. If you have time, head over to Minato Park to enjoy traditional dragon and lion dances, as well as erhu (two-stringed Chinese instrument) performances.
