Once a year, the vibrant streets of Nakasu transform into a stage for NAKASU JAZZ, a one-of-a-kind urban music festival. Over 30 acts from Japan and abroad will perform at various locations throughout the district, filling the city with the smooth, soulful sounds of jazz.
On Saturday, a dynamic lineup of artists—from established veterans to rising stars—takes the stage. Highlights include a special collaboration between violinist Junko Makiyama and jazz vocalist Karen Aoki, blending classical and jazz into a stunning fusion performance. Also not to be missed: DIVA’S LIVE (Nakasu 4-chome intersection, 17:50–18:30), a community showcase aimed at discovering Fukuoka’s next great diva.
On Sunday, the tempo picks up with high-energy sets of jazz, funk, and groove that bring a festive buzz to Nakasu. The main stage will be located in the plaza in front of the historic Kihinkan (Guest House) in Tenjin Central Park. Whether you’re dropping by on a whim or planning your night around a favorite act, check the official website for artist info and stage maps before heading out.
