A popular annual seafood event held in Nishinoura at the northern tip of the Itoshima Peninsula. Fresh local fish landed from the Genkai Sea and live squid are available for purchase, alongside fishermen’s specialties such as tai-meshi (sea bream rice, limited to 300 servings) and hearty arajiru fish soup.
Visitors can also shop for mentaiko sold by weight, seasonal vegetables, and freshly cut flowers. 11 kitchen cars will serve fish burgers, crepes, tapioca drinks, and more, adding to the lively atmosphere of this seaside market around the fishing port. As many items are available only in limited quantities, the event draws large crowds from early in the morning.
