Oyamazumi Shrine Oshiroi Festival
This 300-year-old festival is held annually to give thanks for an abundant harvest and pray for next year’s crop. To honor the shrine god who is believed to be a woman, worshippers grind fresh grains of rice into powder and paint their faces white. This is the only festival of its kind in Japan!
