Peony Flower Festival at Hakozaki Shrine

START: Apr 1, 2019 END: Apr 30, 2019

See brightly colored botan (peonies) at the Shin-en Flower Garden of Hakozaki Shrine. Called the “King of Flowers” because of their beautiful vibrancy, over 2,000 peonies will be in bloom, including a number of rare specimens from China. 30 varieties of Chinese peony will also be in bloom throughout the shrine garden, with several American flowers bursting through with colors not often seen in Japan. The best time of year to catch peonies is the beginning of April, while for Chinese peonies it’s the middle of April. After strolling through the garden, why not stop by the Haco Cafe (located in the shrine reception hall) and relax for a while?
