Rice Cake Pounding at Hakata Machiya
Rice pounding events take place to create the flour needed for mochi, the delicious Japanese sweet. At this annual event, make rice flour and create mochi using a big Hakata ‘shichirin’ charcoal stove. Pound the mochi to rhythmic Japanese music and drums. There will also be a performance by local firemen!
