This exhibition takes a closer look at the careers of the Čapek brothers, who are known around the world for helping popularize the word robot nearly 100 years ago. Visitors will be able to find out more about works by Czech writer Karel Čapek and his brother, the famous artist Josef. Illustrations from Karel’s 1933 book Dashenka, or the ‘Life of a Puppy’ will be featured alongside designs and artwork from Josef’s picture books. The event is also a great chance to discover some of the brothers’ works that are not so not widely spoken about in Japan, such as Karel’s 1920 play R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots). You’re sure to be blown away by the charming and timeless quality of their creations.
