Sasebo Intercultural Project – International Friendship Sports Day

START: Oct 26, 2019 END: Oct 26, 2019

Join this International Friendship Sports Day in Sasebo to experience friendship through sports. English-speaking foreigners, as well as locals, are welcome and admission is free! Participants also get prizes for joining activities. Everyone is welcome. It’s free, but pre-registration is required.

Program

Opening event
1. Baton twirling exhibition (presented by Sasebo Commercial High School)
2. Opening remarks
3. Player’s oath
4. Stretching exercise

Games


1. Spin around the bat (guruguru-batto)
Spin around the baseball bat 10 times before running to the goal.
6 x 8 races


2. Bite off the bread (Pankui-kyoso)
Bite off the bread hung by a thread and run to the goal. Using mouths only!
6 x 10 races


3. Two people with three legs (Ninin-sankyaku)
Tie one of your legs to one of your partner’s and run with three legs.
4 pairs x 8 races


4. Balancing game (Baransu-gemu)
Run while balancing a ball on a spoon. Don’t drop the ball!
6 x 10 races


5. Tug-of-war (Tsunahiki)
Tug on the big rope from one side.
All of the participants (4 teams)


6. Throw balls in the basket (Tamaire)
Throw balls in the basket to score points for your team.
Everyone participates (2 teams)

Ending event
1. Ending remarks (16:00)

Extra

1. Yosakoi Dancing (Yosakoi)
Sasebo’s famous Yosakoi Dance. Let’s have fun and dance together.


2. Mochi-maki
Japanese traditional event of scattering mochi (rice cakes) and then searching for them.

1. This event is for elementary students and older. (Japanese participants will all
Be high school students.)
2. Parking space is limited. Public transportation is recommended.
3. All participants are covered by accident insurance.
