The stage for the name succession ceremony of the thirteenth-generation Ichikawa Danjūrō, previously known as Ichikawa Ebizō, is coming to Hakata-za. The daytime program includes three acts: ‘Yanone’ from the Kabuki Jūhachiban (Eighteen Best Kabuki Plays), ‘Uiro Uri,’ featuring the first stage appearance of the eighth-generation Shinnosuke, and ‘Kagekiyo,’ where Danjūrō will perform as an invincible hero for his name succession ceremony. The evening performance will also consist of three acts: ‘Sayaate,’ rich in Kabuki stylistic beauty; ‘Kōjō,’ where the actors will offer words of congratulations in hakama, and Danjūrō and Shinnosuke will give speeches for the name succession; and ‘Shibaraku,’ during which Danjūrō will perform to announce his successor’s name.
