The Shichifuku Hoshi Festival is an annual springtime ritual in which a service is held to ward off evil and protect worshippers from misfortune. Pray for sound health, and try to catch the beans, good luck charms and mochi which are thrown to the crowd. Enjoy the street performances including Eisa dances (Okinawan folk dance), and wadaiko drum shows too. Don’t miss the parade in which participants march around the temple grounds with the Shichifukujin (seven gods of luck, played by costumed volunteers) as well as the children’s parade.
