Singapore, Sarong Kebaya and Style Exhibition

START: Apr 17, 2016 END: Jun 12, 2016

This exhibition celebrates 50 years of Singapore-Japan diplomatic relations by highlighting the beautiful traditional fabrics of the Peranakans, who settled in various parts of Southeast Asia, including Singapore. See delicate, gauzy kebaya (upper garments) coupled with richly colored batik sarongs. There will also be a special preview event with three guest lecturers on Apr. 15 (Fri.) from 16:00 (register from 15:30): Dick Lee (singer, composer), Peter Lee (guest curator for this exhibition) and Dr. Alan Chong (director of Asian Civilizations Museum).
