A summer festival will be held at the Kawabata Shopping Street, where over 130 long-established and new shops blend under an arcade stretching 400 meters long. There will be plenty of events for both children and adults to enjoy, including booths where you can experience traditional crafts.
At the venue, 400 limited servings of sake will be offered each day, and the first 100 people will receive a gift of an original sake cup from the old Hakata town. There will also be a corner where you can experience the “Kagami-biraki” ceremony, which involves breaking open the lid of a sake barrel.
At the fair’s booth, where you can enjoy the traditional games of Japanese summer festivals, let’s get excited with games that everyone can enjoy, such as shooting games and goldfish scooping. Also, on stage, local students will perform with Japanese drums, koto performances, and dance performances.
