A fun run will take place in Maizuru Park which will see participants take on a 5.55km course around the remains of Fukuoka Castle dressed in sumo suits! For anyone concerned about the mid-summer heat, the suits are said to be designed to keep runners cool. The Sumo Run Executive Committee is organizing the event which will take place for the first time. Part of the proceeds will go to support victims of last year’s Kumamoto earthquakes.
