This unique event in Fukuoka combines two unlikely candidates: sweets and running! After a successful string of races in Tokyo, Osaka, Hokkaido and Fukuoka last year, the Sweets Marathon is back! Runners are supplied with a colorful assortment of mini-cakes and desserts at aid stations along the race, while spectators can visit booths selling even more sweets! All participants also receive a reward sweet by Sano Patissier worth ¥1,200. There are two categories: the “10km Marathon” (limited to 1,500 participants, under 20 year olds must have guardian’s permission) and the “Relay Marathon” (42.195km with baton change stations every 2km) for groups of 2~10-people (limited to 1,500 participants. Under 15 year olds must be on guardian’s team). If you can’t get together a full team but want to participate in the Relay Marathon – sign up for the “Shuffle Marathon” and you’ll be randomly assigned to a team (must be aged over 20).
