Celebrate the history and culture of “Tanko-bushi,” a folk song rooted in coal mining, at the annual Tanko-bushi Festival. This event has been captivating audiences since 2006. With around 40 food and drink vendors setting up shop, there’s something for everyone. The festival turns magical on the evening of the 1st with a Candle Night, illuminating the venue with a soft, ethereal glow. The highlight of the festival is the “Mass Tanko-bushi Dance,” scheduled for 15:30 on the 2nd. Participants dance in unison against a backdrop featuring iconic elements from the song’s lyrics, such as “Kawaradake,” “Two Chimneys,” and “Tateko Tower.” Don’t miss this stunning spectacle.
