This harvest moon viewing festival is held to comfort the soul of Sugawara no Michizane, the Shinto god of learning. Aside from moon viewing, a Shinto dedication with light up of a sacred torch from Dazaifu Tenmangu, sake offering, gagaku (Japanese court music) performance, and a shrine maiden dance will be held. Stay until the end of festival for the fireworks display!
