The Oriental Market

An open-air market with a focus on international exchange will take place at Sumiyoshi Shrine in Hakata, a site long associated with prayers for safe travel. Around 45 stalls will line the shrine’s tree-lined path, offering food and goods from over 25 countries across Africa, South America, Europe, and Asia. Now in its 15th year, the event will feature first-time vendors selling South African honey and herbal teas, as well as Turkish and Uzbek cuisine. Stage performances including a cappella and oriental dance will add to the festive atmosphere.
