The Star Festival at Fukuoka Tower

START: Jun 14, 2019 END: Jul 7, 2019

Tanabata season is upon us – the time when we celebrate the long-distance love of deities Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are separated by the Milky Way except for one day of the year, July. 7. Fukuoka Tower is hosting numerous events to coincide with this special time.

Milky Way Illumination (6/14 ~ 7/7)
From Jun. 14 (Fri.) to Jul. 7 (Sun.), Fukuoka Tower will be decorated by a special Milky Way design.
• 19:30~23:00 *6/14: 20:00~23:00

Make a Wish Tree (6/14 ~ 7/7)
At the fifth floor observation room (top floor, 123 m high), visitors can write their wishes on a piece of paper (tanzaku) and tie it on a bamboo tree – all of these wishes will then be dedicated at Kamado Shrine, where many pray for matchmaking and marriage. Tsutenkaku Tower’s popular character, Billiken, will be there to make your wishes come true!

Long Distance Relationship Discount (6/14 ~ 7/7)
Couples in long distance relationships (must live in different prefectures or further, and must provide proof of addresses) can get a discount from Jun. 14 (Fri.) to Jul. 7 (Sun.). Two adult tickets would usually cost ¥1,600, but with this deal cost only ¥1,000.

Tanabata Festival (7/5 ~ 7/7)
At the plaza in front of Fukuoka Tower from Jul. 5 (Fri.) to Jul. 7 (Sun.), visitors can enjoy yakitori, candied apples, goldfish scooping, live performances and more.
• 12:00~22:00

Yukata and Jinbei Discount (7/5 ~ 7/7)
Visit the Fukuoka Tower observation tower wearing a yukata or jinbei and your ticket will be half price. Valid from Jul. 5 (Fri.) to Jul. 7 (Sun.).

Heart Illumination (7/7)
To celebrate the big reunion of Orihime and Hikoboshi, special five-minute-long illuminations will be shown on Jul. 7 (Sun.) at 20:00, 21:00, and 22:00. An angel shoots a heart with a bow and arrow, making it explode into many little hearts.
