Uminonakamichi Park is currently playing host to a bevy of blooms! Red, pink and yellow tulips are currently in flower – quite a feat given tulips are not usually in season until April. These tulips bulbs were stored in a refrigerator for 2~3 months during the summer and then grown in greenhouses; this makes the tulips think it is currently spring. For the past two years, the park has been laboriously cultivating tulips in this way for public enjoyment. Throughout January there are a whopping 3,000 flowers on display (the tulips that wilt due to the cold are replaced with fresh tulips from the greenhouses)! The Flower Museum will also display 2,500 spring flowers, divided into 19 different varieties. So let some vividly coloured blooms cheer up your winter!
