On July 14th, the opening ceremony of the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka will take place. The ceremony will feature an array of captivating indoor and outdoor events and performances. The venue is “Boat Race Fukuoka”, located north of Tenjin. Please note that tickets must be purchased in advance to attend (Sold out as of 7/14 noon).
Doors open at 5:00 PM, and guests will first be treated to stage events and a fountain show on the outdoor lawn. Then, from 8:00 PM for about 40 minutes, the indoor event hall will host the formal ceremony. The indoor ceremony is accessible only to athletes, invitees, and media, where NAKED, INC., known for their event productions across Japan, will present a projection mapping show using the entire space of the hall. General visitors can watch the ceremony on monitors installed in the lawn area. After the ceremony, around 9:00 PM, the hall will open to the public, allowing everyone to experience the projection mapping.
In addition, a public participatory event will be conducted in the projection mapping space, where cheering messages for the athletes can be recorded. Anyone who wants to send a cheer to the athletes is welcome to participate. The videos recorded here will be aired during the tournament in the fan zone “Fukuoka Ichiba” located adjacent to Marine Messe.
