Yanagawa Contemporary Art Project Ⅳ
~

A citywide contemporary art exhibition unfolds across Yanagawa, with works by 33 artist groups from across Japan shown at seven locations, including the Kitahara Hakushu Birthplace and Memorial Hall, the former Watanuki Residence, shopping streets, and Ashiyu Park. Visitors can encounter art while walking through Yanagawa’s historic streets and everyday scenery.

Produced by Fukushima-based contemporary artist Shigenobu Yoshida, the exhibition began in 2023. This edition also features works by students from high school art clubs in the Chikugo area, created through exchanges with participating artists.

During the exhibition period, related events include a procession performance through the shopping street, live performances at the former Watanuki Residence, and mizuhiki cord-making workshops. It is an art event to enjoy alongside Yanagawa’s canal boat rides and town walks.
