This year’s Yanagisaka Wax Tree Festival is scheduled for mid-November. The event celebrates the beautiful stretch of 200 trees in the Toyoda area, which were planted by the Kurume Clan about 250 years ago in order to gather wax for lighting. The open-air event gives visitors the chance to pick up delicious local agricultural produce and handicrafts against a backdrop that was selected as one of the country’s 100 most beautiful tree-lined boulevards. Be sure to also check out the maple leaves in the nearby Eishoji Temple, too.
