2016 is the Year of the Monkey according to the traditional Chinese calendar. With 400 years of history, 40 Hakata doll makers will display their Year of the Monkey Hakata ningyo at Takumi Gallery in ACROS Fukuoka until Dec. 6. Entry to the gallery is free, and some of the 100 pieces displayed in the exhibition will be for sale, some for as cheap as ¥500. Along with the monkey dolls, there are various other lucky charm dolls. Don’t miss out on that one monkey that coincidentally yet beautifully captures the signature pose of national rugby team hero Ayumu Goromaru!
