Awabar—which serves only carbonated drinks— is located inside the Fukuoka Growth Next startup incubator which opened this spring inside the old Daimyo Elementary School. The nostalgic atmosphere of the old school remains, but the walls are adorned with autographs, photos, and startup company stickers. Here you can enjoy meeting people who come from other parts of Japan and overseas to explore starting businesses in Fukuoka. So even if you’re flying solo, you can stop by and make some contacts. You can also bring food in from outside for a modest charge of ¥200 per person.
