Kajishika

Once a popular yatai, Kajishika reopened as a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Naraya-machi in 2017. The new shop is as popular as ever, with locals and out-of-town visitors who keep coming back for the veggie skewers, fresh seafood and original items, like fruit skewers. The sashimi is also surprisingly reasonable. If you don’t know what to order, try the course. Ingredients change depending on supply and the season. “I want everyone to eat good food. Foreign guests are welcome to let us know what they can’t eat, so we can adjust,” says manager Katsuhiko Shimomura. The shop’s colorful decor is a feast for the eyes. Sit at the counter and watch as staff whip up dishes, or relax in the tatami room.
