Amid the rising popularity of standing bars in Fukuoka, Odoru Niku Dango opened in Kego this January. As the name implies, the specialty here is homemade niku dango (meatballs made from minced beef and pork), but the menu includes many other simple savory dishes that go great with a drink, like the mustard infused corned beef and potatoes. Each dish serves one and is reasonably priced at ¥400 ~ ¥600. Owner Kenzaburo Sakata busily tends to customers in the spacious shop, which makes for a nice pit stop, whether you’re on your own or meeting someone for, before or after dinner.
Menu (plus tax; no charge): Niku dango w/ red miso ¥400 (3 pcs.), whole pickled cucumber ¥400, tomato and mozzarella ¥400, potato salad ¥400, spicy bok choi stir fry ¥500, lemon sour ¥400, Kyushu fruit sour (various flavors) ¥400, highball ¥450, shochu ¥500, soft drinks ¥300, wine/glass ¥400
*Foreign language menu: None / Cash only / Reservations possible / Smoking permitted
