Located in the basement of JR Hakata City, this standing bar specializes in Kyushu sake. Open 10 am to 11 pm, the bar attracts a regular crowd and sake fans from near and far. The menu features nine varieties, including standards and limited-run seasonal sake, so there is always something new or seasonal to try. Beginners can try the sake tasting set—three sake in 60 ml glasses. Not sure what to order? Ask the manager, Tadokoro-san, or one of the friendly waitstaff. With autumn comes the seasonal hiyaoroshi, pasteurized sake made in the spring and stored cold over the summer. No menus in English, but everyone’s welcome!
