Sushi Naniwa

Located near Sumiyoshi Shrine, Naniwa is run by second-generation owner Tadao Obayashi. His love of local seafood stems from a part-time job at the Nagahama Seafood Market where he learned that “only fishermen know the true flavor of seafood.” Every day, he visits nearby fishing ports to procure the freshest local seafood and learn the best ways to prepare them from the fishermen. To make sure the true flavors stand center stage, he uses only simple, natural seasonings. If you go to Naniwa, you can’t go wrong with the chef’s choice course. Just let them know your preferences when you make a reservation. The course starts with an appetizer before moving on to sashimi, grilled and boiled dishes, sushi and soup. All in all, you can enjoy more than 20 different kinds of seafood in one sitting. English-speaking Obayashi regularly participates in sushi events overseas, where he enjoys introducing authentic Japanese cuisine. So, look no further for locally sourced seafood prepared by a consummate professional.
