654 Canadians and friends of Canada came together to celebrate maple syrup, hockey and everything else that makes Canada awesome at Fukuoka Now’s Canada Day Party 2016 at Tenjin Monolith!
With cheesy, salty poutine, succulent lobster, smoky BBQ beef and salmon wraps, tender beef and pork plates, three different Canadian craft beers and Canadian Club cocktails, this was one of our tastiest Canada Day parties yet!
And the maple syrup was flowing freely, with a maple syrup tasting booth, maple syrup on ice cream and – new this year – bacon and maple syrup cupcakes (which quickly sold out)!
Canadian guitarist and singer Thomas Life provided live music, featuring classic Canadian favorites such as The Hockey Song.
Aaron, our MC from Toronto, kept everyone entertained with his infectious energy, both on the stage and and on the dance floor.
The speed drinking was super competitive this year, as was the best dressed! In the end, all the semi-finalists for both contests got a free bottle of maple syrup; after all – Canadians are known for their generosity!
Everyone was on tenterhooks for the big giveaway, but it was Shun Imuta who won the round trip flight to Vancouver, courtesy of China Airlines. This boxer from Kitakyushu gets to visit the city which has been dubbed “Manhattan in the mountains” by The New York Times!
For convenient connections from Fukuoka to Vancouver via Taipei, check out China Airlines.
Many thanks to our sponsors (Embassy of Canada, China Airlines, Nitto Shoji, Ltd., S Foods Inc. and Hirata Sangyou) – you helped us make this one of our best Canada Day parties yet!
