Hideaway Sunset Camp

Kenji Hayashi, the founder of Sunset Cafe, Itoshima’s legendary beach cafe in Futamigaura in the early nineties, breaks new territory this month with the opening of Itoshima’s first seaside campground. Located just ten minutes on foot from JR Dainyu Sta., the lush grounds with access to a sandy beach, ideal for swimming or fishing, also boasts a view of the mountains to the south. Viewed from wooden decks nestled amongst the trees, this is the stuff childhood treehouse dreams are made of! Currently, there are four tents which can sleep two to four persons. Set spaciously apart on wooden decks, they each have a washbasin and BBQ areas. The shared shower-toilet facility boasts four hot-water showers and four high-tech shower toilets. Comfy camping indeed! There’s also wood burning outdoor drum can baths, hammocks and more. Prices and terms are still being finalized, but expect to pay about ¥18,000/person including sleeping bags and a self-cook barbeque dinner! Book via the website (coming soon) or inquire in English to Kentaro Hayashi at the nearby Cafe Inn Fukui.
