On March 18th and 19th the twentieth anniversary of the Kurume Kasuri Expo was held and attracted more people than ever – including us! Twenty-eight manufacturers displayed their textiles, accessories and clothing. From traditional to modern, machine and handmade, and even some Western-style fusion pieces too. Many came to see the creative designs but even more came to take advantage of buying for less than normal directly from the makers. Prizes were awarded in a design contest and two professional fashion shows were enjoyed by the crowd. Others enjoyed the kasuri good craft lessons, while still others enjoyed the food and drink booths! Check back here on Fukuoka Now for information on next year’s event.
