Celebrating the 100th anniversary of one of Fukuoka’s best known sweets, the baby chick shaped “Hiyoko”, a new sweets shop named “Frau Atsuko Kayashina” was opened in July in Tenjin. Pound cake rusk and baumkuchen, two signature cakes, are sold in the new 1F sweets store, while the 2F cafe serves baumkuchen french toast, with local “amaou” strawberry jam or sweet summer orange jam. Hiyoko President Atsuko Ishizaka says that the company prefers to use local produce in their confectionary. Visit the new store/cafe and taste some of the best sweets Fukuoka has to offer!
