A 15-year-old junior high school student was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly attacking a 16-year-old female friend with an ice pick in Yukuhashi City, Fukuoka Prefecture, on the evening of March 12. Police received an emergency call from the victim’s mother, reporting that her daughter had been injured by a friend wielding an ice pick. The victim sustained a 10–15 cm superficial chest wound but is not in critical condition. According to police, the suspect denied intent to kill, claiming the injury occurred during a struggle and that the ice pick inadvertently made contact.
