22 More COVID-19 Cases in Fukuoka – Cluster Suspected in Hakata

Fukuoka Prefecture and Fukuoka City announced a total of 22 confirmed COVID-19 infections on April 2, bringing the total for Fukuoka Prefecture to 100. The twenty-two new cases  include twelve persons in Fukuoka City, seven in Kitakyushu, two in Itoshima, and one in Nakama. The Mayor of Fukuoka City Soichiro Takashima held a press conference in the evening, in which he referred to a suspected cluster of the disease at one of the elderly care facilities in Hakata Ward. Six residents and three staff members reportedly tested positive as of yesterday. The spread of the virus has also increased in other prefectures in Kyushu. Prefectural totals include; Saga: 3, Nagasaki: 8 (+3), Kumamoto: 15, Oita: 30 (+1), Miyazaki: 3, Kagoshima: 3 (+1), Okinawa: 9.
