301 Ventilators Available in Fukuoka Prefecture

The number of ventilators currently available for COVID-19 care in Fukuoka Prefecture is 301. That is 87 less the predicted number of patients with severe symptoms at the expected peak of the spread. The Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare calculated 388 persons might need intensive treatments for the virus using ventilators at its peak. There also is an urgent need for securing medical professionals who are trained to use them. A nationwide survey by the Japanese Society of Respiratory Care Medicine revealed a similar situation occurring in eight other prefectures in Japan. Source: Chugoku 2020-04-06
