39 New Cases of COVID-19 in Fukuoka – Hotel in Kitakyushu to House Patients

The cumulative total of COVID-19 infections in Fukuoka Prefecture reached 289 as of April 10. On Friday, local authorities announced 39 new cases, 26 of which were found in Fukuoka City. More than ten persons became infected at the facilities where suspected cluster infections had occurred earlier this month. Also, there the first confirmed case discovered through a virus test performed at a private clinic in the city was announced. Meanwhile, Fukuoka Prefecture Governor Hiroshi Ogawa explained to the media that the prefecture would begin transferring patients with no symptoms or mild symptoms to a hotel in Kitakyushu City. Starting on April 13, those patients, along with medical/prefectural staff, will stay in 219 rooms of the Toyoko Inn Kitakyushu Airport Hotel (except for the elderly, pregnant women, and those with underlying diseases.) The prefecture is currently working to secure more accommodation facilities as well as medical beds. Sources: Nikkei , RKB Asahi and NHK
